George, nicknamed “Piper”, had two seasons at Dens Park. Starting out with Stobswell and Elmwood junior teams, he joined Dundee from Dundee United, with whom he played from 1943-1947. Whilst playing football he was also employed by Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd.
After leaving Dundee he played a season for both East Fife and Morton.
In 1952 he emigrated to Canada. Residing in Montreal, he was employed as a shipwright with Canadian Vickers Shipbuilding Yard.
