Mr Jackson was a Dundee F.C. Director, and shareholder, from 1912 until ill health forced him to resign from his position as chairman in 1926 and stand down from the board entirely in 1933.
Born in Dundee, he opened his bicycle shop, the Cycle Depot, on Victoria Road in 1896. This was in the days of the penny-farthing, but as the years, and technology, progressed he started selling motorcycles. He also manufactured his own bike called the “Victor” which was said to have been of “exceptionally good value.”
He was keen on motor sport, and in 1924 donated a trophy to the Dundee & District Motor Club, this was to be competed for by members not involved with the motor trade.
As a Dundee F.C. director Mr Jackson was very involved in the building of the Main Stand in 1921, being one of the most pro-active supporters of the project.
Apart from his football activities, Mr Jackson was involved in other institutions in Dundee. Over the years he was director of the Dundee Economic Society, a chairman of the Dundee Business Club, and one of the founders of Dundee Rotary Club. He was a justice of the peace and an elder of St Paul’s Church.
He was also interested in politics and was a member of the Liberal Association in Dundee.
Mr Jackson resided at 1 Muirfield Street, along with his wife, two sons, and daughter.
He died on the 8th April 1936, and is buried in the Eastern Cemetery, Dundee.
