Daniel signed for Dundee, in April 1913, from St Joseph’s F.C., after a successful trial in the reserves against Dundee’s first team.
He was 5ft 10½ in, and weighed 12 stone.
Danny enlisted at the start of WW1, he was a Gordon Highlanders Reservist, and had previously spent five years in India. He had represented his regiment at football, and on his return to Dundee signed on with local junior club St Joseph’s.
It was reported in the local paper in December 1914 that Private Cameron was a Prisoner of War. His family received a postcard from Hamelin which informed them:
“I am a prisoner, but am keeping well and in good health. I will be released after the war, which I hope won’t be long. Give this to mother, as I have only one postcard.”
By 1924 Danny was playing for Vale of Atholl at left-half. By this stage of his career he was recognised as an “old timer.”
